یہ نظم اس احساس کو بیان کرتی ہے کہ اب اندھیری راتوں، تنہائی یا خاموشی سے نہیں بلکہ انسانوں کے فریبی، دھوکے باز اور ظالم رویوں سے خوف آتا ہے۔ شاعرہ کہتی ہیں کہ اصل ڈر اب انسان کی منافقت، مذہب کے نام پر فریب، اقتدار کی ہوس، ظالم حکمرانوں اور خود اپنی بدلتی ہوئی ذات سے ہے۔ یعنی اصل خوف اندھیروں سے نہیں، انسانوں کی ظاہری نیکی اور باطنی بدی سے ہے۔
