A Tale of Choices and Consequences:

In the quiet solitude of a winter afternoon at three o’clock, she lays on her bed, gazing at the closed door on her right. The coldness prompted her to pull up the blanket, tears welled up in her eyes, absorbed by the folds of her shawl. She was unwell, severely unwell, and her family had provided her with a meal before leaving her alone. No one sat by her side to share her pain.

Suddenly, her mobile rang, and a smile crept across her moist eyes upon seeing the caller’s name. She began conversing, immersed in a world where only he mattered. He, the one who loved her, who cared for her in moments of distress. The thought of his concern made her grin through the sorrow. He might be a snake, but she couldn’t comprehend that because his family’s attitude towards her was terribly wrong. Any display of affection towards her made her fall for him, and anyone who cared became dear to her.

Many girls engage in conversations with non-mahram individuals because they perceive it as an escape from pretense. However, they fail to recognize the truth and ruin their lives for love’s sake. Soft-hearted, they become vulnerable to affection, and anyone showing concern wins their hearts. This was her story – a tale of choices driven by a naive understanding of love.

This short flash fiction sheds light on the delicate balance between perceived love and the harsh reality that unfolds when choices are made without understanding the consequences.
